Fort Verde Historic Park to remain open for another yearPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Fort Verde State Historic Park won't be
closing on March 29 after all.
Camp Verde Mayor Bob Burnside has agreed to provide funding from
the town and Yavapai County for State Parks to keep the park open
and operating for one year. There also are options for two
additional one-year periods.
Burnside says the park has brought visitors to Camp Verde even
during the economic recession. Plans are to keep the park open on
the usual five-day schedule.
Officials say Fort Verde is the only state park that offers a
glimpse into the history of Arizona frontier soldier's everyday
life in the late 1800s.
