State representatives education voting recordsPosted: Updated:
They say they support education, but how they vote says something very different. A southern Arizona non-profit organization examined the records of every Arizona lawmaker on education legislation and found out many did not vote to fund schools even once in the last fiscal year.
Members of the Arizona Education Network held a news conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss the results of new research they completed. They say of Arizona's 90 legislators, last year forty voted against bills to fund public education all the time.
Five of the forty are from southern Arizona -- senators Al Melvin and Jonathan Paton, representative David Stevens, David Gowan, and Frank Antenori. Based on 20-bills that would have increased education funding senators Melvin and Paton, along with representatives Stevens, David, and Antenori voted against them 100% of the time.
