PHOENIX -- Phoenix police arrested a store owner after two people accused him of selling their consigned boats and keeping the money.

On Feb. 12 and Sept. 2, the victims turned their boats over to Ryan Martin, 36, to be sold on consignment from his boat store located near Deer Valley Road and 19th Avenue.

Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Martin sold the boats, valued at $68,000 and $23,000, but kept the money.

Thompson said Martin lied to the victims for months concerning receipt of the money.

On Wednesday, police arrested Martin at his business. He was charged with two counts of committing a fraudulent scheme and booked into the Maricopa County Jail.

Detectives believe there may be more victims who have not come forward. They are encouraged to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-534-1739.
