U.S. drug czar visits substance abuse, mental health agency in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- U.S. drug czar Gil Kerlikowske (kur-lih-KOW'-skee) visited a substance abuse and mental health counseling agency on Wednesday in Phoenix.
Kerlikowske says the TERROS agency and a youth program in the Maryvale area of Phoenix provide a strong example of the holistic approach that the Obama administration is advocating in preventing and treating substance abuse.
Kerlikowske, who leads the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy, says his briefing in Phoenix included a discussion about an effort to not serve alcohol at coming-of-age parties for 15-year-old girls.
