PEORIA – A girl fell out of a second-story window while playing with her sibling in Peoria.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene near Lake Pleasant Parkway and Jomax Road on Monday evening.

The 3-year-old girl was playing with her 5-year-old sibling in an upstairs room on Monday evening just before 7 p.m. The girl reportedly leaned against the screen of an open window when the screen gave out and the child fell about 20 feet from the second-story window and landed on the concrete below.

John Meisner, a neighbor, tells 3TV he saw the girl fall. He explains, "The screen just popped out and before I knew it...when I saw the screen pop out, before the screen even came completely out I told my wife to call 911 because she just fell out backwards.

"She was crying," explains Greg Schreiner, another neighbor. "The injuries you could see...she had some blood on her face. I couldn't tell about her leg but it's the injuries you can't see that you kind of get worried about."

The injured girl was taken by chopper to St. Joseph’s Hospital with a broken leg and head trauma.

3TV has learned the girls’ parents were not home at the time of the incident. The two younger siblings were being watched by their 17 and 19-year-old sisters.
