Web site operator gets prison term in AZPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A man who operated an erotic Web site that rated prostitutes was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison Monday in connection with an assault case in Phoenix.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 38-year-old David Elms also was fined $50,000 and given five years of probation to be served after his prison term ends.
Elms was arrested in February 2009 by Phoenix police for allegedly trying to hire someone to assault a business rival. He was later indicted on conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and two drug-related charges.
Prosecutors say Elms pleaded guilty last month to the conspiracy charge and to the illegal control of an enterprise. They say Elms allowed his Web site to be used in promoting the now-defunct Desert Divas Escort Services syndicate that operated in Arizona until 2008.
