BUCKEYE - A man was rescued from the Gila River reportedly after falling into the water while kayaking.
It happened on Tuesday shortly after 4 p.m. near State Route 85 and Narramore in Buckeye.
A man was seen by 3TV's chopper clinging to branches while rescue teams prepared to rescue him.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says the man fell off his kayak and was grabbing on to a tree until a long-line helicopter rescue could take place. He was rescued a little over an hour after he fell in the water but tells 3TV he spent about two hours holding on to the tree waiting to be rescued.
The man touched down on solid ground and was checked out by paramedics.
