Teen hikers rescued; Mobile home fire

Two teens had to be rescued from Sombrero Mountain by helicopter.

Sunday afternoon two 17-year-old boys got stranded in the area of 8100 N. Scenic Dr. Northwest Fire, Pima County Search and Rescue, and DPS were involved in the rescue. The boys were lifted out with a helicopter. First responders say one suffered a minor ankle injury. Both were released to their parents.


A fire Sunday morning left a family homeless and one of their pets dead.

Northwest Fire responded to this mobile home on west sage circle just after two thirty this morning. It was engulfed in flames. Twenty-one firefighters got the fire under control in 16 minutes. One of the family's three Rottweiler puppies died. Fire officials say the home didn't have any working smoke detectors.
