HERMOSILLO, Mexico (AP) -- Conor Jackson and Adam LaRoche homered for the Arizona Diamondbacks in an 8-7 win over a Colorado split squad Sunday.
LaRoche finished the afternoon 3 for 3 to raise his average this spring to .389. Tony Abreu was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and is hitting .481 this spring to become the front-runner for the final roster spot.
Greg Smith pitched four innings for Colorado, giving up two runs and seven hits. Smith remains a contender for a spot in the rotation.
Rockies manager Jim Tracy accompanied the team to Mexico, while bench coach Tom Runnells remained in Tucson, Ariz., to guide the other portion of the squad to a 5-4 win over Seattle.
Former Colorado pitcher Rodrigo Lopez received the start for Arizona. He lasted three innings, giving up two runs and five hits. Lopez is in the mix for the fifth spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation.
Trailing 5-4 in the sixth, Arizona took the lead for good when Abreu hit a two-run single to left-center. The Diamondbacks added two runs in the seventh.
The Rockies host the Chicago Cubs on Monday, with Jeff Francis taking the mound. The Cubs will counter with Carlos Zambrano.
Arizona will face Cliff Lee and the Mariners on Monday.
