PHOENIX (AP) -- Two people are jailed after they allegedly ambushed a man in front of a Phoenix high school Friday night.

Phoenix Police Department spokesman Ofc. Luis Samudio confirmed the victim's ex-wife and her current boyfriend have been arrested.

The volunteer baseball coach at Desert Vista High School was reportedly "ambushed" and badly beaten in the school parking lot.

Officials said the coach noticed his car had a flat tire, and when he went to change it, a man drove up behind him and attacked him.

The suspects are identified as Edward Meyer of Salt Lake City and Valerie Hayes, the victim's former wife.

Samudio confirmed Meyer was charged with assault, and Hayes is charged with conspiracy and facilitation of the attack.
