Calif. man sought in mom's death arrested in Pima CountyPosted: Updated:
VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (AP) -- San Diego County authorities say a doctor's son who was sought for questioning in his mother's killing has been arrested in Arizona.
Sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos says 25-year-old David Lucero was taken into custody Tuesday night in Pima County, apparently for creating a disturbance. California investigators planned to talk to him.
His mother, 53-year-old Margo Lucero, was found dead of extensive injuries Tuesday afternoon at her Valley Center home. Her Mercedes was later found in Arizona.
Brugos says investigators have no motive for the killing. A relative told San Diego 6 News that the family asked the Sheriff's Department to take the son away Monday because he was having mental problems but deputies refused.
Lucero worked at Valley View Casino. Her husband, David Lucero, is a family practice physician.
