Driver killed, 2 teens injured after car hits pole in YumaPosted: Updated:
YUMA -- A man was killed and two teens were injured after a car hit a pole in Yuma Saturday evening.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, a two-door Honda Accord was northbound on Avenue D near Clip Street shortly before 6 a.m.
For an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the roadway to the left. The car hit an APS pole and an irrigation pump then spun around and stopped in the middle of the road.
The driver, Jose Isaac Figueroa, 21, was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Passengers Andrew Gonzalez Jr., 19, and a 14-year-old girl were taken to the medical center with non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. According to the sheriff's office, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
