PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are turning to the public to help find the driver involved in an early morning hit-and-run wreck that seriously injured a man Wednesday morning.

Police said the victim, Alfred Randolph, has died.

The wreck happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Thomas Road near 43rd Avenue. Thomas was closed between 43rd and 45th avenues for nearly four hours.

According to police, Randolph had just gotten off the bus and was crossing the street in the middle of the block when the car hit him. There is no crosswalk by the bus stop in that area, said Officer Luis Samudio of the Phoenix Police Department.

"It was still pretty dark so there's a good chance [the driver] didn't even see him," Samudio said.

Randolph, 80,  was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he later died

Investigators have very little to go on in the case.

"We don't know where the vehicle is at this time," Samudio said Wednesday. "We don't have any key witnesses or any information that could help us with the investigation up to this point."

Investigators have only received a general description of the suspect vehicle, believed to be a dark gray 2004-2008 Nissan Titan or Armada.

Police are asking anyone who might have information about this morning's accident to call Crime Stop at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
