Suspect in weekend kidnapping remains on the loose, girl home safePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A 4-year-old Phoenix girl is safe at home after being kidnapped over the weekend, but the person who took her is still on the loose and police have little to go on.
According to investigators, the little girl was taken by a stranger from the parking lot of an apartment complex at 44th Street and McDowell Road Saturday evening.
The girl was found wandering on a nearby street just a few minutes later. She was not hurt.
One neighbor believes the person responsible has been hanging out in the area.
"We've seen this guy that's been out here parking on the side of the street ... several days for weeks at a time," said the neighbor, who wanted to remain anonymous. "Some guy came and got in the car with him so we thought that he was waiting for somebody to pick up .... We didn't know anything else. We don't even know the man."
The suspect is a white male between 25 and 30 years old. He's 6 feet tall and weighs between 180 and 200 pounds. Police believe he was driving a newer model four-door gray Nissan.
Investigators said a neighbor saw somebody in that vehicle grab the little girl and drive away.
