Police in search of two suspects allegedly involved in shootingPosted: Updated:
APACHE JUNCTION -- Police released information today about a shooting that occurred last week.
A 25-year-old man was shot on Feb. 17 at a residence in the 1500 Block of South Lawson, according to Chief Jerald Monahan of the Apache Junction Police Department.
Police are in search of two suspects, who have been identified as 23-year-old Stephen J. Illies Jr. and 26-year-old Joshua L. Larson.
The victim claimed one of the suspects approached him and they got into a fight, Monahan said. One suspect allegedly attacked the victim while the other hit him with a handgun, and the victim was shot shortly after. The attackers then fled the scene, Monahan said.
On Feb. 24, Apache Junction and Mesa officers searched a residence in Apache Junction for Illies but did not find him.
Police are still searching for the two suspects for aggravated assault.
Illies is a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has numerous tattoos and is considered armed and dangerous.
Larson is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
