PEORIA -- A teen girl on her way to school rode her bike into the side of a car in Peoria Thursday morning.
It happened at about 6:30 a.m. at 87th and Peoria avenues in the West Valley.
The intersection was closed for a time while police conducted their investigation.
According to officers, the girl was heading to Peoria High School. She was riding against the traffic light and hit the side of a car that was just about to make a left turn. She apparently rode right into the side of the car.
The girl suffered only minor injuries, but she was taken to the hospital as a precaution. She's expected to be just fine.
Investigators said the driver was not at fault in the accident.
Police want to remind bike riders and pedestrian to always go with the flow of traffic and obey all signs and signals.
