SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a Mexican man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle nearly 225 pounds of marijuana into Arizona.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Luis port of entry were processing travelers coming from Mexico on Wednesday. A man driving a pickup truck was screened by a narcotic detector dog that alerted the officers to the auxiliary tank area where officers discovered 15 bundles of marijuana weighing about 224.4 pounds.
Authorities say the marijuana had an estimated street value of about $503,000. The man, whose name and hometown was not released, was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
