Horne announces candidacy for GOP nod for Ariz. AGPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for attorney general.
Horne said Thursday his priorities would be fighting crime, securing the border and creating "a legal climate favorable to economic growth to attract jobs." He said he'd do that through law enforcement that isn't motivated by political purposes.
Chandler attorney Tajudeen Oladiran also has filed papers to run for the Republican nomination, and Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas is exploring a possible candidacy.
Democrats David Lujan, Vince Rabago and Felicia Rotellini are running for their party's nomination.
Current Attorney General Terry Goddard is term-limited and is running for governor.
