Cochise County launches homicide investigationPosted: Updated:
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) -- Cochise County investigators have launched a homicide probe after a body was found Feb. 8 near St. David in southern Arizona.
Investigators determined the victim is a 33-year-old woman from the Mexico City area.
Deputies responded after the woman's body was found in some brush off Highway 80.
Investigators said it appeared the victim had been dragged a short distance from the roadway to a brushy area. She wasn't wear shoes or socks and did not have identification.
The Cochise County Medical Examiner completed the autopsy and advised the death was a homicide and occurred within 48 hours of the body being found.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
