PRESCOTT -- A fugitive accused of numerous sex crimes in North Carolina was arrested in Prescott.

Richard Daniel Centeno, 32, was wanted for first-degree statutory rape of a child, incest with a child and other sex offenses in Mooresville, N.C., according to a news release from the Prescott Police Department.

On Friday, North Carolina State Police contacted Prescott police after learning that Centeno was believed to be in the Prescott area.

Prescott officers believed Centeno was staying at an address located in the 700 block of Lincoln and conducted surveillance at the home. Centeno drove up to the house and officers took him into custody without incident late Friday afternoon.

Centeno was taken to the Yavapai County Jail where he was booked on the charges.

Officers conducted a search of the home and seized computers, video equipment, storage devices and DVDs.

At this time, Centeno is being held without bond pending an extradition hearing scheduled for March 2.
