Ariz. Senate confirms 4 to head state agenciesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Senate has confirmed Gov. Jan Brewer's appointees to lead four state agencies.
The Senate confirmed the men on a voice vote without discussion on Tuesday.
The move formalizes the work already being done by Benjamin Grumbles at the Department of Environmental Quality, Will Humble at the Department of Health Services and Charles Ryan at the Department of Corrections.
The men are part of Brewer's cabinet and replace agency directors who left when former Gov. Janet Napolitano resigned to join the administration of President Barack Obama. Most agency directors serve at the pleasure of the governor.
The Senate also confirmed Robert Halliday to lead the Department of Public Safety, replacing Roger Vanderpool whose contract expired last month.
