Phoenix police arrest suspected pimpPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix police arrested a suspected pimp after officers found a 16-year-old girl working the streets of east Phoenix.
Police arrested 29-year-old John A. Jeffries Saturday on several charges including sex trafficking, child prostitution and receiving the earnings of a prostitute.
Officers patrolling a known area for prostitution found the victim on East Van Buren Street.
The victim told officers she was a runaway from Casa Grande and had been brought to Phoenix to work as a prostitute.
Phoenix police say officers contacted Jeffries and determined he had solicited the child for prostitution and had also engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Jeffries was booked into Maricopa County Jail. The victim was placed with Child Protective Services.
