Ariz. man charged after disturbance on NY flightPosted: Updated:
NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) -- An Arizona man has been charged with causing a disturbance aboard a US Airways flight to upstate New York.
State police say 41-year-old Robert Wnuk of Mesa, Ariz., refused to return to his seat as the flight from Philadelphia was approaching Stewart International Airport in Newburgh on Monday.
The pilot alerted authorities on the ground, and Wnuk was arrested without incident. FBI and New York investigators decided to charge him under state law with misdemeanor criminal nuisance.
Troopers say Wnuk was also charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument after syringes were found in his baggage. They say Tuesday they don't know if he has a lawyer. He's being held on $500 bail.
