Suspect facing long list of charges for pimping out teen runaway

PHOENIX - On Saturday evening Phoenix police on patrol in the area of 30th Street and Van Buren arrested a suspect accused of child prostitution.

Officers observed the 16-year-old runaway walking down the street with the suspect John Jeffries following close behind. Familiar with the prostitution that takes place in the area officers decided to talk to the teen.

Officers discovered the victim had run away from her home in Casa Grande and was brought to Phoenix by Jeffries to work as a prostitute.

In questioning, Jeffries told police he had solicited the teen for prostitution and also had sex with the victim.

Jeffries has been booked into jail on charges of sexual conduct with a minor, sex trafficking, child prostitution, receiving the earnings of a prostitute, transporting for the purpose of prostitution and inducing a minor for prostitution.
