Woman upset after she makes an online purchase and never gets itPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Shopping online these days sure is popular. Consumers say it's easier and quicker, but one Valley woman wonders if she'll ever use the Internet to shop again.
Ashmere Orozco thought she found the perfect gift recently while shopping online.
“I ordered an 'Alice in Wonderland' snow globe for my niece, Alice, for her first birthday," Orozco said.
Orozco bought the snow globe for $50. The Web site she bought it from is called Treasure Kingdom, which specializes in Disney products.
“It said seven to 10 business days," Orozco said. "I ordered it December 15 and it's February now."
Orozco says she contacted Treasure Kingdom over and over and claims she can't get a hold of anyone.
To make matters worse, Orozco says the snow globe never did arrive before her niece's birthday.
“I felt really, really bad because I wanted to get her something," she said. "I was embarrassed going to the birthday party because everyone has these really cool presents”.
3 On Your Side tried to get a hold of Treasure Kingdom, but we had just as much difficulty as Orozco was having. We e-mailed the company, faxed them and, of course, tried calling, but no one ever called us back.
Now, Orozco says she wonders if Treasure Kingdom is even a real company.
“I feel like I was scammed because they took the money from me 15 minutes after I ordered it,” she said.
This is the very reason a credit card is recommended when buying things on the Internet. If you use a credit card, you can dispute the charge and the credit card company will return your money. If you use a debit card, your money is gone.
