Bisbee man arrested after marijuana found in carPosted: Updated:
BENSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a Bisbee man has been arrested after nearly 200 pounds of marijuana was found in the vehicle he was driving in southern Arizona.
An Arizona Department of Public Safety officer was on routine patrol along State Route 90 about six miles south of Benson on Wednesday when he stopped a vehicle for a cracked windshield.
Upon approaching the car, the officer noticed bundles of marijuana in the back seat. It turned out to be 197 pounds of pot.
The DPS says 27-year-old Luis Xavier Montiel was arrested for possession and transportation of marijuana for sale, driving on a suspended driver's license and aggravated DUI. He has been booked into the Sierra Vista Jail.
