SCOTTSDALE -- A teen driver was able to escape after his vehicle landed in a Scottsdale canal Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Scottsdale Fire Department, the 16-year-old reportedly lost control of his Scion while trying to make a left-hand turn near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Hayden Road.

He clipped a signal light pole on the corner and ended up in the canal.

The teen was able to get out of the vehicle and canal by himself.

His car will remain in the canal overnight. A dive team will remove the vehicle Thursday morning.
