Mesa moving its municipal court operations

Posted: Updated:

MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Mesa Municipal Court will be shutting its doors for a week and move to a new location.

The final day of operation at the old courthouse will be Thursday and doors will open at the new building on Feb. 22.

People can still pay fines online or leave them in a drop box at the old courthouse from Friday through Feb. 19.

According to Mesa Municipal Court Administrator Paul Thomas, the closure period will be used to repeatedly test the new building's systems.

The new 100,000-square-foot building will house eight courtrooms, 24 service windows, 83 court staff and the city prosecutor's office. The building is designed to accommodate growth for two more courtrooms and 150 more workers.
