TEMPE -- A man who attacked his wife with a box cutter and a kitchen knife was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

On Feb. 7, 2009, Tempe police arrested Paul Robledo, 32, after he stabbed his wife in the throat and stomach. The victim survived her wounds.

Robledo pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder in January and on Monday he received the maximum sentence of 21 years behind bars.

"Domestic violence in any form cannot be tolerated, especially when it involves the use of deadly weapons as occurred here," Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said.
