TEMPE -- A motorcycle officer with the Buckeye Police Department was injured in a one-vehicle collision at Loop 202 and Scottsdale Road Wednesday morning.

The motorcycle officer, who has not been identified, was heading to the funeral for slain Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler.

According to Lt. Stephen Harrison with the Department of Public Safety, the motorcycle officer received minor injuries.

He was transported to a local hospital with "road rash" and possibly a broken leg.
