PHOENIX – A car ends up underneath a school bus after slamming into it from behind.
The collision happened Monday afternoon at the Indian School Road and 59th Avenue intersection.
The bus driver says he and a car in front of him were at the intersection on a yellow light. When traffic cleared and he thought he had enough time to go the bus driver let off the brakes and the driver behind him hit the gas, sending her car under the bus.
Leonard Stevenson says, “Being how far the car was under the bus, my thought was somebody had to be dead in that car. Whatever move she pulled at the end, when she swerved to the left, end up saving her life."
Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital. A passenger in her car was not badly injured.
The Liberty Traditional School bus driver says he had just dropped off his last student before the wreck.
