PHOENIX -- A woman was killed after her car broke down on Interstate 10 and was hit from behind.

The accident happened Sunday morning near 31st Avenue in Phoenix.

Officers say a car was pulled off to the far right side of the westbound lane. As traffic moved around the vehicle, a pickup truck slammed into the back of it and the car exploded on impact.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the people in the truck and witnesses tried to help with fire extinguishers, but the flames were too intense.

The woman, identified as Olga Sanchez Torres, 44, died at the scene.

At this point, the driver of the pickup has not been cited.

An account has been set up to help Torres' family. You can make donations at any Wells Fargo bank branch under the account # 5383-960-365.
