Benson man killed in collision with wrong-way driverPosted: Updated:
BENSON, Ariz. -- A Benson man was killed by a wrong-way driver early Friday morning.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 about 40 miles east of Tucson at approximately 3:50 a.m.
DPS Officer Quentin G. Mehr said the Suburban collided head-on with a Toyota sedan.
The driver of the Toyota, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. He has been identified as Jesus Haro, 48, of Benson.
The other driver was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. He has been identified as James A. Anderson, 61, of Palm Springs, Calif.
The investigation is ongoing.
