Brewer appoints ex-lawmaker Killian to Arizona regentsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Former Arizona House Speaker Mark Killian is Gov. Jan Brewer's choice for an appointment to the board that oversees the state university system.
According to Brewer's announcement Thursday, the Mesa Republican will replace Robert Bulla on the Board of Regents.
Killian's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Arizona Senate.
Killian is a founding partner of a real estate firm and served in the Legislature for 14 years, including four as speaker in the 1990s.
He also was director of the state Department of Revenue under former Govs. Fife Symington and Jane Hull.
Brewer says Killian's experience in state government will serve him well as a regent.
