Child hit by car in Phoenix intersectionPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A child was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car at a Phoenix intersection Tuesday morning.
It happened just after 7:30 a.m. at 39th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Victor Ochoa, a 3TV photographer, saw the child fly into the air and then hit the pavement.
A woman who also saw the wreck was so distraught she fainted.
The nature of the child's injuries was not immediately available. Video from the scene showed rescue crews loading the child -- who was awake and crying -- into a waiting ambulance. Paramedics could be seen talking to the child.
Police on the scene have not said anything about the car that hit the child.
It's not clear if any charges might be filed in connection with the wreck.
While the eastbound curb lanes of Camelback Road were restricted for a short time while emergency crews were on the scene, the road remained open throughout the incident.
