SCOTTSDALE -- A 34-year-old driver was arrested after he tried to go around a barricade at Indian Bend Wash and got stuck.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, the Roosevelt crossing of Indian Bend Wash was closed and barricaded to all vehicular traffic at about 7 p.m. Thursday.
Sometime after 10 p.m. William Charles Vanliew III attempted to cross the flooded area in his vehicle. His car floated away and became stuck in the floodwaters.
Public safety personnel from Scottsdale and Tempe initiated a swift-water rescue.
Vanliew was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device and driving while his license was revoked. He was booked and released pending a court appearance.
