PHOENIX -- A teenager is dead after a car crash in Phoenix Thursday afternoon.

According to investigators, the driver of a Mitsubishi was traveling northbound on 59th Avenue and lost control of the vehicle while driving through water. The vehicle collided with a Chrysler 300, which was traveling southbound on 59th Avenue.

The four teens in the Mitsubishi were transported to local hospitals where Jesus Estrada, 17, was pronounced dead. The 18-year-old male driver and two other 17-year-old male passengers received minor injuries.

The 27-year-old female driver of the Chrysler suffered minor injuries.

Investigators said the teen driver was operating the vehicle at a high rate of speed and alcohol and/or drugs may also have been a contributing factor.
