More rainfall and snow on tap; Could reach all-time record

PHOENIX – Rain and snow will be picking up throughout Thursday. Residents will also see increasing winds, peaking near 50 miles-per-hour in Northern Arizona and between 35 and 40 mph around the Valley.
There is going to be a lot of rainfall and snowfall. The rain and snow peak should be on Thursday during the late afternoon but much of that depends on location as the storm moves from west to east.
This is an unprecedented forecast. The Weather Service is forecasting more than 2 inches of rain for Phoenix at the airport for Thursday. The current one-day record is 1.98 inches of rain that fell on March 3, 1983.
If, by chance, we would get more than that, it would be an all-time record.
Things will wide down fairly rapidly overnight Thursday into Friday statewide and Friday should be a quiet day with the exception of some lingering rain and snow in eastern Arizona.
