FLAGSTAFF – Search and rescue crews are out looking for an overdue snowboarder in the high country.
Coconino County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Gerry Blair tells 3TV 14 volunteers are on foot and in a snow cat looking for the snowboarder who was last seen on Wednesday at about 3 p.m. on the south side of the Arizona Snow Bowl.
The 19-year-old man who is missing is reportedly not an experienced hiker, skier or snowboarder. Detectives believe he left the confines of the snow bowl and made his way into the “unimproved back country.”
Also helping out in the search are members of the Arizona Snow Bowl Ski Patrol.
