Woman in crosswalk killed by red-light runner

PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are asking for the public's help to find the suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run Wednesday evening.

Deanna Sue Puhuhefvaya, 44, was in the crosswalk at McDowell Road and 16th Street at approximately 6 p.m. when a pickup truck ran a red light and hit her. Puhuhefvaya died from her injuries.

Detective James Holmes said the truck, described as silver or gray, fled the scene northbound on 16th Street.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area or may have information regarding the hit-and-run to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness and 480-WITNESS. Any caller can remain anonymous.
