Police warning public about carjacking suspect on the loose

PHOENIX and SCOTTSDALE -- Police in Phoenix and Scottsdale are warning people about a carjacker who struck twice last night and remains on the loose this morning.

Investigators are concerned that the suspect might strike again/

According to Scottsdale police, a woman was getting into her car in the parking lot of the Albertson's at Scottsdale and Thomas roads at about 10 p.m. when a man wearing ski approached her. The man pointed a gun at the woman and told her to move over.

The woman fought off the suspect. According to the police report, the man grabbed the woman's purse and jumped into a dark green 1998 Chevy Trailblazer.

Investigators believe that vehicle had been carjacked earlier in the evening in Phoenix.

The woman who was approached outside the Scottsdale Albertson's was shaken up, but not physically hurt.

Anybody with information about the suspect is urged to contact the police.
