Mother killed, 5 others injured in rolloverPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A young mother is dead after a family was involved in a rollover in west Phoenix Tuesday night.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, a Chevrolet Suburban carrying a family of six was traveling eastbound on Thomas Road at 53rd Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Sgt. Trent Crump said the 28-year-old father hit a curb and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then left the road and rolled over.
The mother and father were ejected from the vehicle. Angela Mendoza, 25, was killed. The father is listed in critical condition.
Crump said they were not wearing seat belts.
Four children, who were riding in the back seat, were injured in the rollover. Three boys, ages 8, 1 and 2 months, are listed in stable condition. A 3-year-old boy is listed in serious condition.
Crump said two child-restraining devices and a booster seat were found in the vehicle.
No citations have been issued at this time, but the investigation is continuing.
