Police identify body found in church parking lot in west PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are investigating a homicide after a body was found in a church parking lot Tuesday morning.
Phoenix police say a sanitation worker was picking up trash at around 5 a.m. when he discovered the body of a woman near the Arizona Korean Presbyterian Church at 64th Avenue and Indian School Road.
The worker said it was still dark out when he noticed something strange in the middle of the parking lot near a dirt field. He grabbed a flashlight, got out of his truck and that's when he realized it was a body.
The worker said the African-American woman was tied up at her hands and feet.
Police have identified the victim as Shenika Watson, 23, and say she was shot and killed at this location.
At this point, police have no suspects and no witnesses so they're hoping someone will come forward with any information that can help them solve this murder case.
