City offsets major portion of budget shortfall

The council was successful in coming up with $28-Million to offset the city's $32-Million shortfall for fiscal year 2010. And they did it without having to tax rental property owners.

This past Tuesday's controversial city council meeting ended in a 60% reduction on outside agencies, salary reductions, employee layoffs, and vacant positions being eliminated. And the proposed renters tax was shot down. Council members made lots of headway.
