Casey Lee Smith
One of five national contestants to advance to the 28th Annual Colgate Country Showdown Finals in Nashville. Since childhood, Smith has been singing and playing instruments, from the guitar and piano to drums and banjo. He is a proud American who has faith in God and his country. He writes and performs his own music, a fusion of country, rock, jazz and blues. Smith will release a new CD this month titled, "This Is So Me." The songs were written by Smith and Austin and were produced and recorded by Austin and Hayden Nichols (Clint Black's band and co-writer) at the Black River Recording Studio in Nashville, TN, in November. His first EP, "Casey Lee Smith," is produced and recorded by Deborah Gibson, Gavin MacKillop (Miley Cyrus, The Goo Goo Dolls), and Platinum award-winning mixer and producer Rudy Haeusermann. Smith wrote and played guitar on all three songs. Austin, who also sings backing vocals with Gibson, joined him on guitar. Smith has won numerous local competitions and he recently won an award for his song, Never Stood Taller, in the Inspirational Gospel Category of The John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC).
