TEMPE -- A massive geyser of water was shooting high up into the air -- higher than the telephone poles -- at Broadway Road and Priest Drive in Tempe Friday morning.
A 12-inch water main break was reported at 7:45 a.m. It's not clear what caused the break, but water was still spewing into the air more than four hours later.
Crews were able to stop the geyser and water is no longer gushing, but it is bubbling in order to keep water flowing to customers.
Nobody in the area is without water at this point.
Broadway Road was closed between Priest Drive and Roosevelt for several hours. One lane in each direction is now open. Drivers can use Southern Avenue or University Drive as alternates.
Workers are expected to be at the scene all afternoon.
