An illegal immigrant attacked a Border Patrol Agent and his dog today with rocks. That agent in turn opened fire on the man. The man died on the way to the hospital. The Cochise County Sheriff's Department, FBI, and Border Patrol are investigating the incident. This happened just outside of Douglas.
People coming from Mexico into Arizona are experiencing some traffic off of I-19 between Tubac and Amado.
The northbound right lane heading this week will be closed because of construction of the Border Patrol checkpoint. The greatest impact will be seen by the approximately 2,500 trucks that head that way.
Driving across the border over the holidays can sometimes take upwards of an hour.
People who went home to Mexico for the holidays are now returning. The hard part for customs and border protection officers is making sure people aren't smuggling illegal items across.
