The Department of Juvenile Corrections has to cut more than $5M out of it's budget.
That means at least one facility will be forced to close.
The Catalina Mountain School in Tucson will have to close one of it's housing units. The school had five housing units. Now they only have two.
In Santa Cruz County, volunteers are going so far as to mow grass and clean up parks in the area to keep them open.
County supervisors voted last month to lay of maintenance workers at all three parks. Therefore, the parks will close, which is supposed help the county's budget.
Volunteers are trying to keep the parks open. There could be some legal issues involved in the public helping to maintain the parks.
