MESA -- Police are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run wreck that sent a Mesa 5-year-old to the hospital over the weekend.

It happened at 14th Place and Center Street Saturday night.

According to investigators, Sethaniel James Ryan Cruz and three other kids were attempting to cross Center Street and were waiting in the middle of the two-way left hand turn lane as a vehicle approached.

While the other kids managed to get out of the way, Sethaniel was hit and suffered severe life-threatening injuries, including fractures to his skull, pelvis and legs as well as internal injuries.

Police say the driver did not attempt to stop.

Sethaniel was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.

Police are looking for a silver 2005 Ford Taurus. Investigators say damage will consist of a missing driver's side-view mirror and door handle. Possible damage includes denting on the fender, side and door on the driver's side and cracked windshield on the driver's side.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mesa Police Department.
