$300K worth of pot found in abandoned car in desert

WELLTON – Agents discovered a vehicle loaded with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of marijuana.

U.S. Border Patrol agents found a vehicle with more than $300,000 of pot in the desert on Wednesday at about 10 p.m. The border agents were assigned to the Camp Grip area.

Agents discovered tire tracks that led north near Wellton and found a Jeep Cherokee with packages of marijuana in the back.

The 17 plastic-wrapped bundles and the Jeep were seized for further investigation. The car was transporting 412 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $330,000.
